If you are choosing between the 2000X and 5000X, the 2000X is the better value, and as many have said, the sound is going to be the same. As @SaturationPt mentioned, it is a nice sounding, warm and very musical receiver. I owned a 8080 and it was also excellent. The Sansui is very nicely styled, I've repaired a number of them and considered them very solid performers. I believe the original Sansui 5000 was introduced in 1967 followed thereafter by the Sansui 5000a in 1969 and then the Sansui 5000x in 1971.
